"HOT SPRAYS AND STRIP EDGE SHAPE CONTROL"

Abstract: The control of strip shape near the strip edge remains one of the more difficult challenges of a shape control system. Hot sprays are one method which provide considerable potential for performance improvements here. Though more common in the aluminium industry there is also potential benefits in steel rolling. Being relatively new technology an in depth technical description of the underlying theory and performance bounds has not previously been publicised. This paper presents both an analytical and a practical summary of the current state of the art.
